A Snapshot of Your Day
A Whole Engine Modelling (WEM) and Secondary Air System (SAS) Engineer (f/m/d) will work in an international team of engineers to develop of large size gas turbines, its service upgrades and the field support. You will typically work together with project managers, engineers in a wide variety of action field, as component design, testing, instrumentation, manufacturing and service. Furthermore, you will work independently on your individual tasks in joint coordination of priorities within the global SAS/WEM team.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Application of In-house and commercial calculation software for:
    • Creation of calculation models to describe the transient heating and expansion of the entire gas turbine and determining the optimum assembly gaps between rotating and stationary components of the gas turbine.
    • Creation of calculation models to describe the cooling air supply of the hot gas-carrying components and evaluation of the results.
    • Evaluation of model results and derive conclusions required for the design
    • Apply Data science to assess operational and findings from prototype and the fleet engines
    • Development of designs as well as Secondary Air System solutions with integrated teams


What You Bring

  • Successfully completed university studies in the field of mechanical engineering or comparable and several years of experience
  • Good knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics as well as of mechanical engineering or process engineering and of gas turbines and their components advantageous
  • Knowledge in the application of numerical software, programming languages (Python, Visual Basic, C) advantageous and risk assessment methods (e.g. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) advantageous
  • Experience in the development, design and operation of gas turbines and FEM software is an advantage
  • Project experience desirable
  • Confident in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Very good English language skills and intercultural experience in English-speaking countries an advantage
